Some great new finds now available at the Store. Our personal favourite are the vintage glass light shades, they would look amazing in a kitchen hung low over the table. There’s many more pieces over at the store including a retro Figgjo Flint egg cup and china tea cups.

We hope you find something you like.

We had a lovely time at home but it was just so busy and went so quickly, I’m not really sure how we managed to fit so much in in one weekend! Starting at my family home we celebrated my mum’s birthday and visited my friends 6 week old baby daughter,  she was so beautiful. Then we headed across to Tom’s to see all his family and friends, we even managed to squeeze in some shopping for the store and have some fantastic finds which I can’t wait to put up on the store, I will pop a few of the favourites on here as well.

We spent most of the weekend in jumpers and winter coats, even though it appears to be sunny in the photographs it was actually quite cold, it’s evident that Winter is just around the corner.

The designers at Dahlia have really out done themselves this season. I stumbled upon images from the new Autumn Winter range and have fallen in love with them.  Dahlia have used a lovely retro setting to show the collection which transports you back to the 80’s. Although the pieces have a hint of vintage style they are completely on trend with studded collars and cuffs and a dress covered in a exquisite brocade pattern.

It doesn’t feel so long ago that I purchased a Dahlia floral lined black blazer from Spitalfields market, the brand has come so far since then. A few of the items in the campaign are already available online, It’s hard to decide which piece to buy first.

We are looking forward to a weekend at home, even though it’s only Monday. It’s been a while since we’ve been back so can’t wait to see both mine and Tom’s family and maybe fit in a walk on the beach at Whitley Bay. This means wrapping up warm, so we will be dusty off our christmas jumpers and cleaning last winters mud off our boots.

We have a few things to add to the shop which will be going up this week.

We had a fantastic time in Paris, I could have uploaded so many more pictures but decided to resist in giving you a overdose of holiday snaps. Paris is one of my favourite cities, especially for fashion and vintage. It was Toms first visit so we also took in some of the beautiful tourist sites as well as a walk down the Jardin des Tuileries, my favourite spot in Paris. We took along a disposable camera as I just love the suspense of getting them developed and how they make everything look like it is the 90’s.

My favourite shopping area in Paris is the Marais, this area is well worth a visit as you can just wander the streets and find everything from concepts stores such as L’eclaireur, independent boutiques, french fashion (among my favourites are Iro, Les Petites and Surface to air), or a fantastic range of vintage stores like Coiffeur.

I would recommend for all those who like a thrift through vintage homewares and clothing to go to the  flea market located at Porte de Clignancourt which is an Aladdin’s cave of vintage. However, to get there you have to pass through the hoards of tat and counterfeit goods to get to the vintage wares. There are so many shops to look through you could stay there all day. A tip for buying: always try to look disinterested and try your best to haggle! The market is open Saturdays 8am-6pm Sundays 10am-6pm and Mondays 11am-5pm.

Finally don’t forget to go to Colette and Merci two fantastic concept stores in Paris they always have fantastic displays and amazing stock, I would love my home to be filled with items currently on sale at Merci.

We had an extremely busy but lovely few days and I can’t wait to go back!

We love making jewellery at Rise and Shine. I’m often searching antiques fairs and vintage markets for interesting charms and unusual pieces to make in to up-cycled jewellery. Recently we have picked up some vintage ceramic watch faces that we thought would make great pendants.  We have attached them to some sterling silver trace chains and the result looks incredibly cute, they remind me of Alice in Wonderland. We love to add simple details to make pieces unique, but also allowing the focus to remain on the vintage watch faces. They are now available in our Etsy store, we hope you love them as much as we do.

We have also been trawling markets in search of vintage glass lockets which we had planned to place pressed flowers inside. Unfortunately however, we were unable to find any. After months of searching we finally found a supplier of vintage style lockets in America and although they aren’t genuinely vintage, they have a very classic vintage feel. I especially like the latches. Upon receiving my order I had a lot of fun decorating them with pressed flowers, it reminded me of being a child. They have a real fairy tale look and vintage feel, I can’t wait to wear one on our upcoming trip to Paris, the others are available at our Etsy store.
